Holly Vogt Wilkison on Shoes

Yes... Holly Vogt Wilkison (that would be me) has, as many women do - a severe love of fabulous shoes. Why? Because they're fun. Because they can shift your mood... from passive to aggressive, shy to outgoing, girl scout to vixen, or vice versa. They even have personality and can let everyone around you know how you're really feeling: flirtatious, serious, happy, daring, sassy, domineering, angry...

Looking in someone's closet you can get a good idea of what that person is like. Personally, my shoes are all over the place because I love trying them on with different things and don't have the patience to put them back in their boxes. And, I admit, I only have one pair of flats... the rest are heels and a few pair of boots (I know - I'm just a heel person. Maybe it has something to do with the way my legs look in high heels...or the fact that I'm only 5'2").  Just looking at them though... gazing at their happy colors and designs, remembering how many great times I've had in them... Wondering where they'll make their next appearance. Ahhhh, yes.

Shoes. Is there anything they can't do? I love how shoes can transform an outfit: an ordinary little black dress can become "Wow - she looks great. What a great dress!" Jeans? Fuggetaboutit. Now they're uber stylish because of the red sexiness oozing from the pant leg hems.

Here's the sad part: for a lot of us, we rarely get a chance to don some of these little gems.  I recently bought a pair of the pinkest, happiest, frilliest heels on the planet and I've been racking my brain trying to find something to wear them with (again, jeans are a great way to show off just about any heels), and I have yet to find that outfit. (I'm seriously going to break them in with my jeans. I've just decided. Ooooo... I can't wait)! So, since I still don't have the perfect outfit for them I'm going to imortalize them on canvas. I'm going to utilize whatever talent and training I have at my disposal to be able to gaze upon these little sweeties whenever I want. It's time to get out my brushes and paint. I want my house to wear these shoes!!!

Yes, my love of shoes is severe.  And so I succumb to this aspect of fashion, as many of you do, and will do whatever I can to enjoy my shoes to the fullest. Tell you what: The minute I finish the painting, I will let you all see these pink ladies... but not a moment before! The question is then: Do I break these darlings in before I do the painting or after? Do I have that kind of patience? What would you do? I may just marry these shoes. Sorry guys...
